Steep by steep, never guessing.

Gongfu isn't one pour — it's a conversation with the leaf. Tea Master walks you through every infusion: 10 seconds, then 15, then 20, then 30. The ring counts down. The Live Activity keeps watch on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

  • Up to 7 short infusions per session
  • Live Activity on the Lock Screen & Dynamic Island
  • Six gentle timer sounds — chime, bell, gong

Every cup, remembered.

When the last steep finishes, rate the session and write down what you tasted. The journal keeps every cup — with photos — and quietly turns it into your brewing history: what you drink, how you brew it, and how long the streak has run.

  • Rate each session, keep tasting notes & photos
  • Statistics, top teas and brewing streaks
  • Stays on your device, syncs through your own iCloud

Questions, answered

Common questions about brewing tea.

Quick answers from the team behind Tea Master.

What is Gongfu tea brewing?
Gongfu (Chinese: 工夫茶) is a brewing method that uses a small vessel, a high leaf-to-water ratio, and several short infusions — usually 10–30 s each — instead of one long steep. Originating in China's Fujian and Guangdong provinces, it's the traditional way to brew Oolong, Pu-erh and aged teas, where each pour reveals a new layer of flavour.
What's the right water temperature for each tea?
Different teas need different temperatures to bring out their best flavour: green tea at 70–80 °C, white tea at 80–85 °C, oolong at 85–95 °C, black tea at 95–100 °C, and pu-erh at 95–100 °C. Boiling water on delicate green or white leaves is the most common brewing mistake — it scalds the leaf and pulls out bitterness. Tea Master sets the right temperature automatically for every tea in its library.
Is Tea Master free?
Yes — Tea Master is free to download. The free tier includes two curated teas with the full timer, both Gongfu and Western brewing styles, all six timer sounds, and Live Activity support. Premium unlocks the complete 45-tea library plus the brewing journal, statistics, My Shelf, the dosage calculator, the brewing guides and custom profiles — $2.99 / month, $16.99 / year or $44.99 lifetime. The app collects no data, has no ads, and requires no account.
Does Tea Master work for Western-style brewing too?
Absolutely. Every tea can be flipped between Chinese (gongfu) and International (Western) modes. International mode uses a longer single steep — typically 3–5 min — at a lower leaf ratio. Matcha and Cold Brew modes are also built in. You can tune temperature, ratio and timing per-tea, and Tea Master will remember.
Which devices does it support?
Tea Master is iOS-first, designed for iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Live Activity and haptics are supported on iPhone 14 Pro and later. An Apple Watch companion is in development.
Does the brewing journal send my data anywhere?
No. The journal records every session you save — the tea, the style, your rating, tasting notes and photos — and it stays on your device. Turn on sync and it travels through your own private iCloud, which the developer cannot read. Tea Master collects no data, shows no ads, and never asks you to create an account.
